POSITION: MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM OFFICER (MIS)
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Operation Eyesight Universal is looking for an MIS Officer to be based in Kapiri Mposhi, Central Province of Zambia. This role forms a vital part of the organization’s operations and will provide crucial support in terms of documenting data from various source documents into the computer system for storage, processing and data management purposes.
Job Purpose
To ensure elimination of avoidable blindness in targeted intervention areas of Kapiri Mposhi, Zambia.
Ensure cost effective utilization of programme resources while adhering to established standards and guidelines.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Country Director and other relevant offices at the Country Department of Health and other relevant government departments to ensure coordination and coherence of all the project components
- Devise annual/quarterly/monthly/weekly work plan under the guidance of Programme Manager for CHWs and ensure its timely accomplishments.
- Track/monitor progress against project indicators, milestones and activities, against scheduled work plans and overall project objectives
- Facilitate timely submission of quality monthly and quarterly and any other project reports analysing and providing feedback to partners and the Country Director.
- Keep track of the emerging issues and identify risks that may have adverse effect to the project
Data Collection, Information and Communication
- Set up and manage field data and information on a daily basis.
- Monitor and ensure the use of data collection tools and consistency in data collection.
- Undertake frequent field visits to supervise CHW’s and verify data documentation.
- Undertake periodic checks on the referral and follow ups being carried out by the CHWs.
- Compile the verified data and disseminate the same on a periodic basis to the Country Director.
- Attend to visitors visiting the program, coordinate field trips and meeting with Partners.
- Compile monthly reports with successful case studies and any other duties assigned by the programmes Manager.
Financial Management
- Develop funds request for the field activities and submit to the Programmes Manager.
- Check accuracy of field expenditure and submit to the Programmes Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, communications, or a related field with at least
3-5 years of work experience in a non-profit Organization. - Must have exceptional attention to detail.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate ideas into action.
- Ability to work with a high functioning team and communicate clearly to diverse audiences.
- Strong attention to detail and to see things through to a very high standard.
- Strong Communication, planning and project management skills.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office, Excel is a must.
- Ability to learn and adapt rapidly based on feedback.
