A leading company in the Poultry Industry is looking for an Assistant Farm Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to join our organizations expanding and fully integrated agricultural process.
PURPOSE OF JOB ROLE
Carrying out all breeder operations of the assigned breeder farm and production of the maximum required number of chicks per hen housed efficiently and cost effectively.
MAIN TASKS
- Responsible for all matters in managing and controlling the farm in line with the written procedures being: Brooding, Growing, Laying, staff manning, bio security, site maintenance, repairs and staff  training.
- To liaise with the farm manager to ensure all procedures are completely and correctly implemented (Daily).
- To ensure that all farm production reports are correctly and fully presented on time, being; weekly and  monthly reports, green reports, eggsactly, radio daily report and all other reports including the stock take reconciliation report (Daily/weekly/monthly).
- To ensure that all production graphs and production parameters are correctly maintained at the farm and that these procedures are measured against the company’s production standards, being;
- B/weights for egg, breast scores, feed rates and consumption, uniformity, culls and sex errors, mortality, hen day, total eggs, total hatching eggs and hatching egg selection. FCR etc. (Daily/weekly/monthly/per cycle).
- Report to the farm manager any variance away from the production standard immediately within 24 hrs a flock may be facing while putting into place the corrective measures so that production is brought back and maintained (Every time).
- To monitor and control feed production and usage to ensure poultry houses do not run out while insuring that ingredients are kept in a good bio secure environment away from possible pathogens, pests and rodents (Daily).
- With the farm manager, conduct daily/weekly and monthly mills stock take for all raw materials (Daily/ weekly/ monthly).
- With the farm manager, hold daily/ weekly and monthly staff meetings on site to ensure that an efficient and productive work force is maintained (This should focus on all matters regarding flock performance, bio-security, breeder management, farm asset care etc., /Daily/ Weekly/ Monthly).
- Ensure that the company’s code of ethics is upheld at all time by all staff daily.
- Together with the farm manager, develop KPIs for all staff and periodically measure their actual performances against these set targets (Daily/weekly/per cycle).
- To do any other duties that may be assigned to you from time to time by management.
REQUIREMENTS
- Agriculture College Certificate
- Completed at least One (1) year production cycle at farm management level
