GBC Professional Services – Our client, RRCNL II, an Indigenous Media House in Nigeria with interest in Radio, Television and Production, is recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Finance Manager – Media

Location: Lekki, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Purpose

  • We require a Finance Manager who will be responsible for all aspects of the financial records, including regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as the development of internal control policies and procedures for the Company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the financial transactions of the company are accurately captured, classified, and posted with relevant approvals and coding instructions to the account team
  • Prepare relevant management accounts on a periodic basis
  • Inventory control and management
  • Receivable Management
  • Provide detailed analysis and interpretations of the accounts in an easily understandable and informative manner
  • Ensure timely invoicing for clients
  • Perform regular reviews of the ledgers and other books of entries and ensure relevant reconciliations
  • Institute financial control policies as approved by the management; ensuring that the financial and non-financial assets of the firm are well safeguarded
  • Provide appropriate financial advice to the management that will create value and ensure the financial health of the business.
  • Ensure confidentiality and safekeeping of accounting records & documents.
  • Ensure effective budget development, monitoring and reporting
  • Ensure effective discharge of statutory obligations

Reports:
Included but not limited to:

  • Monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual management accounts; Quarterly Board Reports, P or L Statements, Statement of Financial Position, Cash Flow Statement, and Analyses, etc.
  • Weekly / Monthly Cash Plan
  • Reconciliation reports
  • Weekly Reports (which includes Receivables Summary, Payables Summary, Cash liquidity position, Financial Summary)
  • Monthly reports which include Income Statement, Analysis of Expenses, Financial Summary etc

Education and Experience

  • Accounting Degree or equivalent
  • ACCA/ACA certification
  • Minimum of five years experience required with at least 3 years of overseeing the accounts department
  • Between the ages of 35 – 45years
  • Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Practices and Principles (GAAP)
  • Knowledge of applicable tax laws, codes, and regulations in the Media industry
  • Working knowledge and experience of accounting software
  • A resident of Lekki/Ajah and environs are preferable

Key Competencies:

  • Proven working experience as the Head of Finance
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Experience with preparing financial statements
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
  • Excellent accounting software use and administrative skills.
