Overall Context
Restless Development is a global agency for youth led development – everything we do is led by and through young people.

As Restless Development aims at making all the Monitoring and evaluation systems user friendly for all staff and stake holders and improve on program quality and delivery, research assistants who will be based in the Kabwe, Mumbwa and Mazabuka will be expected to effectively and efficiently lead and undertake a needs assessment to investigate in depth: – The experiences and feedback from young people who have previously participated in the bursary’s programmes under CAMFED and ZOCs, they will also Assess needs, aspirations and ideas of the young people who are about to participate in the programme which will Inform a detailed design phase, and a detailed proposal – fully rooted in the latest evidence and feedback from the young people themselves. Project

In view of the above, Restless Development Program Quality unit or Monitoring and Learning unit is initiating a three months youth led needs assessment research. We are looking for 9 young people to work with us as Research Assistants. The Research Assistants will be trained in methodologies of conducting the research and will collect and analyze data with the supervision of a consultant. The researchers will be subject to the staff code of conduct and will be expected to adhere to it.

Scope of Work

• Lead the design of data collection tools for the needs assessment
• Enter the data on a database prescribed by the consultant
• Data collection through administering questionnaires and focus group discussions
• Lead on the design of data collection mediums with supervision of the consultant
• Lead on the first phase analysis of findings with supervision of the consultant
• Present research findings.

Qualifications and Experience Essential:

• Has a grade 12 school certificate.
• Added advantage: Has done tertiary education, with a bias towards research or monitoring and evaluation (economics, development studies, monitoring and evaluation).
• Between 18 and 28 years old
• Knowledge on use of Microsoft word, excel and statistical packages.
• Ability to analyze, interpret data and write a report
• Fluency in written English
• Able to manage and update a database.
• Ability to work within the deadlines
• Commitment to Restless Development values and code of conduct
• Should be Kabwe, Mumbwa and Mazabuka residents.

The Research Assistant will report directly to the Assistant Program Coordinator and receive support from the Consultant.
