Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)
Main purpose of job:
Work with the Illegal Wildlife Trade and Prosperity Manager to implement the prosperity and illegal wildlife trade agenda for Zambia working within the Economic Development pillar and other prosperity officers in the region.
Roles and responsibilities:
- To build and maintain a network of commercial contacts in Zambia – know where to go to find commercial information
- To lobby the Zambian government in support of UK businesses where they need help resolving problems
- To identify the changes in the business environment that would most affect British businesses and to produce quarterly economic reports
- To Continually engage with the British Business Group and the British Chamber of Commerce
- Provide in country support for UK business deal/promotions, business delegations and commercial events hosted by the High Commissioner
- Share best practice with prosperity colleagues in other countries in Africa to help support region-wide delivery
- Actively promote the IWT Challenge Fund and the Darwin Initiative Fund in Zambia
Monitor IWT/Prosperity events in the country - To actively source funding opportunities for IWT and prosperity work in Zambia
Implementation of IWT and Prosperity projects in Zambia - Monitoring and evaluation of IWT and prosperity projects in Zambia
Essential qualifications, skills and experience
- Previous experience in private sector development and/ IWT
- Minimum of 2 years working experience
- Degree in Economics, Business Administration or Ecology
Language requirements:
Language: English
Level of language required:Â Fluent in both oral and written English
Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
Excellent Communication and Interpersonal skill
