Jhpiego seeks candidates for the following position on the Department of Defense (DOD) – funded HIV/AIDS prevention, care, and treatment project.

Family Planning & HIV Integration Advisor

Reports to: Project Director

Location: Lusaka, Zambia

Positions supervised: None

Overview:

Oversee the tailored implementation of family planning (FP) interventions that are integrated with HIV services into the essential services package services on the project. Work at the national level to integrate family planning into strategic and technical HIV documents. With the HTS and Care & Treatment Technical Leads and Technical Officers at HQ and the field / regional offices to support the rollout of in-service coaching, mentoring, and supportive supervision for the facility- and community-based health care providers.

Responsibilities:

Provide technical oversight, strategic direction, and definition of project activities within family planning in the HIV program.
Provide technical guidance in FP for DOD HIV prevention, care, and treatment programs in Zambia
Build capacity of the CLWs and HCWs through training and orientations in the community-based distribution of FP commodities, including injectable contraception in line with MOH guidelines
Train community-based Distributors to distribute short-term contraceptives to PLHIV and the general population and refer clients to health facilities for long-acting, reversible contraception (LARC) and other sexual and reproductive health services (e.g., STI screening and cervical cancer prevention services)
Provide technical updates to DOD program staff on key issues in FP
Provide guidance in discussions with donors and the MOH on matters relating to FP
Provide leadership in the development of FP-related programs, fieldwork plans, and budgets of all field coordinators, their implementation, and monitoring and reporting.
Lead in designing strategies for the execution of interventions for FP for DOD project.
Provide oversight in planning, implementing all FP training activities and ensure they are in line with Jhpiego’s training standards, MOH guidelines and that they meet the desired quality
Identify and implement appropriate strategies to address service delivery gaps
Identify training needs for healthcare providers and assist in the design and implementation of measures to address those needs
Provide overall management and coordination of activities for Jhpiego trained FP health workers in partner facilities, ensure they are equipped with the necessary service tools, ensure proper data capture, and reporting
Develop national and district-based partnerships with other FP implementing partners by establishing strategic working relationships
Work closely with DHOs for increased Jhpiego visibility as a partner in the provision of FP services
Represent Jhpiego on all FP technical working groups at the national level, and stay up to date with the National evidence related to FP and implications for HIV programming
Manage relevant consultants, trainers, and other Jhpiego trained FP health workers and ensure quality FP services.
Work with M&E staff to design and implement a plan to track data/results to inform adjustments in project implementation.
Contribute to the development of new business development opportunities and proposals
Document successes, lessons learned, and challenges in implementation and contribute to reports of project activities and results to the donor, including routine quarterly and annual reports, and other reporting requirements as requested.
Represent Jhpiego at national and international conferences on FP/HIV.

Proficient in Microsoft Office package
Qualifications:

Degree in public health or related field
A Masters degree will be an added advantage
At least a minimum of 7 years of experience in FP/RH and HIV related programs
Ability to work well with others and a team player
Excellent analytical, communication, and report writing skills.
Ability to support projects, set priorities, and plan for the successful implementation of programs.
Experience working with MOH systems and personnel
Experience in working with donor funding agencies and private sector foundations
Experience working in a high-pressure environment with constantly changing priorities and deadlines
Ability to travel to implementation sites nationally.
