INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
JSI Research and Training Institute, Inc. (JSI) seeks highly qualified and accomplished public health leaders, providers and support staff for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-supported USAID DISCOVER-Health Project. The five-year project, which is led by JSI in collaboration with the Palladium Group, supports the Ministry of Health in the efficient and effective control of the HIV epidemic, malaria, childhood illnesses, and unplanned pregnancies in order to reduce associated morbidity and mortality. JSI is recruiting for the following positions:
Position 1
Position: Prevention & Behaviour Change Youth Champion
Position Type: Intern
Duration: Six Months
Location: Main Lusaka Office
Reports to: Senior Advisor – Prevention & Behaviour Change
Job Purpose:
The Intern will support implementation of programs for USAID DISCOVER-Health in the area of Prevention and Behavioural Interventions to strengthen young people’s engagement in the Zambia Ending AIDS Campaign
Responsibilities of the intern include:
The specific duties and responsibilities of intern will include:
- Support the goals of the Zambia Ending AIDS Campaign, in particular around HIV treatment literacy, specifically by engaging in two-way conversation through various mediums.
- To create a “humanized” face to the campaign so that all stakeholders can see the future lives the campaign is aiming to improve.
- Support towards activations; and other demand generation interventions,
- Other duties as assigned by their supervisor
Social media Specific roles & responsibilities
- Sharing ZEA messaging on social channels
- Meeting with other young people to talk about ZEA and compile their experiences, thoughts to inform the campaign
- To actively communicate with ZEA communications team to ensure key messaging is up to date and on point; and provide feedback on challenges or best practices in engaging youth
- Manning the social channels and hosting social chats to engage with other young people as necessary
- Re-posting content published by the ZEA communications team on social channels (primarily Facebook and Twitter)
Requirements and Qualifications
- Must have completed Grade 12 and with some work experience in the HIV field
- Experience in working with young people and in particular networks of young people living with HIV
- Proven experience with social media
- Have experience with counselling other young people
- Have experience with youth engagement
- Will believe in the goals of ZEA and be comfortable speaking on about said goals,
- Will be well-versed/currently active on social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook (or have a basic knowledge and are willing to learn),
- Will have prior knowledge of the ZEA or are willing to learn,
- Young People living with HIV are encouraged to apply
- Written and Verbal Communication skills
- High level of computer literacy

- Highly organized and self-motivated
- Creativity, flexibility and ability to work within deadlines
- Maturity, initiative, tact and high sense of responsibility
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team
